From sign-in to published chapters

Eight small steps, most authors publish in a few minutes.

  1. 1

    Sign in with Patreon

Go to Sign in and choose Continue with Patreon. One click, no extra password, progread uses the Patreon account you already have.

  2. 2

    Connect your campaign

Open the Dashboard from the account menu. As a new author you'll see Become an author, press Connect your Patreon campaign. Patreon asks once for permission to read your campaign and posts, that powers the import.

  3. 3

    Create your first novel

In the dashboard use Create a novel, enter a title and an optional short summary, press Create novel. Limited plan starts with one novel and fifty chapters, plenty for a running serial.

  4. 4

    Set a post title pattern

Tell progread how your chapter posts are named, either right on the create form or later above the import list. Write your usual title and put {n} where the chapter number sits, for example My Novel Chapter {n}. Posts that fit get picked out for you in the next step. No pattern works too, you then pick every post by hand.

  5. 5

    Import your chapters

Open the novel and find Import from Patreon below the chapter list. Posts fitting your pattern wait at the top under Matches your pattern, one press on Add all stages them in order. Every other post has its own Add button. Nothing is visible to readers yet. New posts on Patreon do not import themselves: when you publish a new chapter, come back and import it the same way.

  6. 6

Choose who can read each chapter

Every chapter has a Minimum tier dropdown, already set to match the tier the post has on Patreon. Change it wherever you like, a reader unlocks the chapter when their pledge meets the minimum.

  7. 7

    Save and share

Press Save and Publish and imports, tiers and order go live in one step. Until then readers keep seeing the last saved state. Your patrons sign in on progread and their tier unlocks your chapters automatically.

  8. 8

    Tiers stay in sync

When you change a post's tier on Patreon later, the chapter follows by itself within minutes. Chapters where you picked a tier yourself show a Manual badge and are left alone, press Re-sync to hand one back. The Sync chapter tiers from Patreon switch turns this off per novel. During beta every author has this, after launch it stays part of Plus.
